About TKM Defense Techniques

Techniques and styles that take years to learn and master only provide effective self defense techniques after practicing them for years. An efficient self defense style should provide basic techniques that can be trained to proficiency in the shortest time possible. Tactical Krav Maga is a form of Krav Maga and was developed by Itay Gil, who formerly served with an elite counter-terror and hostage rescue commando unit, "Yamam". Tried and tested on the battlefields, with its military origins, Tactical Krav Maga provides a refined set of 'real-life' techniques and concepts across ten core units designed to provide maximum efficiency in neutralizing a threat as quickly as possible and escaping the danger zone.

The Ten Core Units of Tactical Krav Maga

Unit 1 – Striking Techniques, bursting, footwork and pre-fight training
Unit 2 – Defensive tactics against strikes whilst standing and grounded.
Unit 3 – Empty-hand Baton and Stick Defence
Unit 4 – Release from chokes, grabs and holds standing and on the ground. Defence from pushing and pulling.
Unit 5 – Knife threat defence, and defence from being held and hit.
Unit 6 – Utilising improvised weapons for defence
Unit 7 – Take-downs, throws and falls.
Unit 8 – Ground fighting
Unit 9 – Empty-hand Control techniques. Defence against handguns.
Unit 10 – Defence against long arms (rifle, shotgun etc) and third party protection.


The Fundamentals of Self Defense.

The fundamentals course is designed to provide basic concepts of self defence and is suitable for all ages and levels. This workshop will provide essential life saving self defense skills in a one off workshop and is ideal for travellers or anyone wanting some basics self defense.

Topics include striking and priority targeting, pre fight and reaction training, release from common grabs, chokes and holds. The workshop is also an awesome, fun workout and additional benefits are increased health and fitness and well being. This course is recommended for all ages 14 years and up. Places are limited.


The TKM Beginners Course

The beginners course is designed to provide the basic concepts of Tactical Krav Maga and essential life saving self defense skills. Training is usually broken up into 4 lessons and is up to a total of 10 hours of training.

Lesson 1 - Striking basics, footwork basics, pre-fight and reaction training, priority targeting.
Lesson 2 - Striking continued from disadvantage positions (grounded, seated). Surprise attacks.
Lesson 3 - Release from common chokes and holds, Defenses for pushing and pulling.
Lesson 4 - Multiple attacker & Improvised Weapons
Leeson 5 - Knife threat defence, and defence from being held and hit.

This course requires a minimum of 6 participants to run.

The TKM Intermediate Course

Following on from the Fundamentals course, participants continue to practice striking skills and look at blocking defences and counter strikes against an incoming attacker. Training focuses on reactions to defend, counter and exit the danger zone as quickly as possible. Run over 4 lessons the total training time for the intermetiate course is 10 hours.

Lesson 1 - Additional striking techniques and defense against strikes
Lesson 2 - Defense against strikes and kicks continued. Sparring.
Lesson 3 - Stick and Baton Attack
Lesson 4 - Ground defense
Lesson 5 - Empty-hand Control techniques. Defence against handguns/weapons

This course requires a minimum of 6 participants to run. Participants should undertake fundamentals or beginners course or have previous training.

 


Personal & Group Training

Personal training is available for individuals for $80 AUS per hour.
Small Group tuition is available.
